Freedom Hill Coalition
Launched in 2019, the Freedom Hill Coalition provides ongoing opportunities to connect in imagining an
equitable public education system. We are committed to building spaces, structures, and institutions that
transform existing systems of power.
Committed members of Freedom Hill:
This year, Freedom Hill launched our Represent! Campaign at a press conference in Raleigh. The Represent! Campaign is
working to ensure North Carolina’s public schools and policymakers are representative of the needs and concerns of students, parents,
educators, and communities of color. This work will be continued over the next 16 months - through the November election, the long
session of the legislature, and the start of the 2025-2026 school year. The campaign includes several goals and action items, including,
but not limited to, advocating for adopting short-term suspension appeals processes, investment in holistic support services (counselors,
social workers, psychologists, etc.), and gathering support for fair public school funding.
